Are there any medical foundations for light therapy ?
Yes. Following discoveries from the Doctor Normand Rosenthal, an american psychiatrist, a number of clinical tests showed a link with the loss of light and other problems that may be linked to the winter period or in cases of not being exposed or moved from natural sunlight. Insufficiant light secretes a larger quantity of melatonin (medical foundation). It is this hormone that is produced by the pineal gland which is at the origin of our need for sleep. Light therapy glasses work on regulating the melatonin. |
How do you use the LUMINETTE?
Here are a few examples of the use the LUMINETTE (to be adapted for your particular needs) :
- Seasonal depression : 30 minutes every morning for 4 weeks - Insomnia : 30 minutes in the morning until the problem is gone - Working nights/shifts : 30 minutes as soon as the period of night work is finished - Jet lag : sessions of 30 minutes at night for a few days before going west, and in the morning before going east. |
Why choose "medical light therapy glasses" ?
Light therapy glasses have an intensity of 3000 lux. All lighting produced from the strong white light, like halogen lights for example don't agree with light therapy. these glasses have a medical agreement and fill all the criterias necessary for the right therapy. The light does not flash and is spread uniformly. The superficial brightness of the medical glasses is as low as possible to reduce being dazzled. |
Does light therapy have any risks ?
No. Light therapy glasses should only be used by people who can stand the light of the sun. There is no problem linked to the UV rays in existance, as these glasses only give out a weak quantity, well below the classic of day light. However for a precaution, going to see your GP, optician or psychiatrist is necessary in the following cases : if you have suffered with a previous illness linked to the eyes (cataracts, glaucoma...), manic depressive syndrom, if you have been taking medication for the increase of sensability of your eyes towards the light. |
| What is the difference between light therapy lamps and light therapy glasses?
With light therapy lamps you need to be sat infront of the device for at least 30 minutes every morning, most people just don't have the time to sit down for even 5, as they either have children or are late getting up, light therapy lamps are also to large to carry around or to take on holiday. With light therapy glasses you can get the children dressed, get up late and run around, all while benefiting from your dose of light therapy. The great thing about light therapy glasses is that they can be taken on holiday or on a business trip too as they are light in weight and even have their own carry case. That is the great thing about light therapy glasses. The LUMINETTE can also be worn with prescription glasses.
